Two beams circulate in opposite directions, ramping from injection energy to full energy -- like the real LHC (27 km ring, protons at 99.9999991% of light speed, 13.6 TeV collisions). Bunches cross inside the detector: every crossing makes a NEW event. Most are messy jets; occasionally a clean Z boson or a Higgs candidate appears. In reality crossings happen 40,000,000 times per second -- we slow them ~10^7x so you can actually watch.
